Requirements for Appointment

  • Must be a Kenyan citizen with at least 5 years’ experience in senior position in health
    department

  • MB chB, MD, BDS, B. PHARM or equivalent

  • A relevant postgraduate, clinical specialty, MPH, Msc.(Health policy and management), MA (Hospital management), Msc. (Health services planning and management), Msc. (Health System Strengthening), MBA or Post graduate diploma or certificate in management.

  • Deep knowledge in planning, coordinating, controlling and directing public hospital health
    services provision

  • Sufficient knowledge of clinical practices, procedures and standards

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide general and administrative services to the hospital

  • Review formulation and implementation of health and administrative policies, procedures and
    programs in the hospital

  • Effective supervision, deployment, discipline, training and development of staff

  • Co-ordinating major health technical functions and ensuring timely completion of tasks

  • Liaising with other professional and technical departmental heads to improve overall management and delivery of health care services

  • Promoting discipline and professionalism in delivery of health services

  • Participate in the development of annual budget, in line with approved budgets and spending
    plan

  • Ensure effective financial management in accordance with Government financial and accounting procedures.

  • Where necessary in collaboration with the Chief Officer of Health, revise plans and budgets
    and progress to ensure planned activities are completed.

  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Officer of health.
