Prosthodontist - V/FT/147/2022 - 1 Post

Position Summary

The Prosthodontist specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex orofacial conditions
including the restoration of damaged teeth and replacement of missing ones in adult patients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnosis of orofacial diseases/conditions, prescribe appropriate investigations and formulate treatment plans

Performing specific dental procedures in areas that include conservation and restoration, aesthetic dentistry, prosthetic rehabilitation (fixed and removable prosthesis), endodontics and implant dentistry

Supervision, training and mentorship of dental officers, dental interns and students

Undertaking call duties to review and manage patients with urgent/emergency conditions

Participating in the multidisciplinary management of patients

Undertaking medico-legal duties such as completing insurance dental reports, P3 forms and judicial attendance

Conducting oral health community outreaches/camps

Taking part in the formulation and implementation of the departmental annual work plans

Formulate, review and implement dental policies, standards, guidelines and protocols.

Awareness creation and promotion of preventive dentistry

Establishment and maintaining a dental health information system

Conduct research to advance dental sciences and provide solutions to existing problem areas.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists council

Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics from an institution recognized by the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists council.

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council KMPDC) as a maxillofacial surgeon.

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.

Valid Practice License from the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists council.

Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least

1 year experience as a Prosthodontist in a busy hospital.
