Neurologist – V/FT/140/2022 – 1 Post

Position Summary

The Neurologist coordinates and provides specialized neurological services and participate in research in the area of specialization

Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient’s history, examining them and conducting neurological tests.

Counsel patients on neurological disorders and its background.

Order neurological tests and interpret the results of neuroimaging studies.

Prescribe and/or administer treatment and medication.

Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.

Order supportive care services for patients.

Participate in neuroscience research activities.

Liaise with medical professionals in the community and hospitals.

Keep up to date with neurological developments, treatment and medication.

Perform specialized treatments for sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, behavioral neurology and neurogenetics.

Perform and interpret electroencephalography, electromyography and nerve conduction velocity tests.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

Master of Medicine in internal medicine from a recognized institution.

Fellowship in Neurology from a recognized institution

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.

Valid Practice License.

Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least one (1) year working experience as a Neurologist in a busy hospital.
