Position Summary

The Nephrologist’s job exists to coordinate and provide specialized medical oncology services,
coordinate research and training and advise the hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities

Managing patients with kidney disorders or injuries.

Prescribe renal replacement therapy for patients with kidney diseases.

Will be part of a multi-disciplinary team for the kidney transplant program.

Consult other specialists especially in critical care units as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated and filed physically or in a computer database.

Should be able to supervise medical students and registrars.

Ensure use of all Hospital’s automated systems, as appropriate, including the Hospital
Management Information System (HMIS);

Any other responsibility assigned by the supervisor in the delivery of care

Minimum Academic Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

Master of Medicine in internal medicine from a recognized institution.

Fellowship Nephrology from a recognized institution.

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC

Valid Practice License.

Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least one year’ working experience as a Nephrologist in a busy hospital.
