KTDA Senior Supply Chain Officer – (Purchasing) Jobs in Kenya


Position scope

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for handling supply chain activities.

Key Responsibilities

Managerial Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure receipt of procurement requests from user departments/internal customers and arrange for the sourcing of the required goods, works and services through the established procurement methods.
  • Act as the secretary to the technical tender evaluation committee and prepare the evaluation reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining updated suppliers list as per established policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with the user department in preparation/clarification of requirement specifications and on other purchasing matters.
  • Preparing bid documents for various procurement needs as per approved policies and procedures.
  • Preparations of the Agenda for the management tender committee.
  • Preparation of periodic status reports on the tender and recommend the necessary action.
  • Preparation of the monthly performance report for the purchasing section.
  • Overseeing the coordination of bidders’ inquiries.
  • Maintenance of tender and other procurement records as per policy.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel including delegating assignments, monitoring and evaluating performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and guidelines in the purchasing field.
  • Supervising direct reports work and other administrative matters.
  • Identifying training needs for direct reports.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings in purchasing.
  • Monitoring frequency of purchases and recommend possible options to increase effectiveness of
    purchasing power.
  • Handling suppliers and other stakeholders inquires.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications/Skills/Experience

    The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies: -

  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain, procurement, logistics or related qualifications.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in Procurement/supply chain management, with at least two years in a similar position.
  • Professional certification in procurement/Supply Chain Management/ Diploma in Purchasing and supplies/Logistics Management
  • A member of KISM/CIPS/CIPP.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems e.g. SAP required.
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the current issues and trends in procurement, logistics and supply chain management.
