KRA Supervisor - Independent Review of Objections (Customs) Jobs in Kenya

Job Purpose:

Issuance of objection decisions for cases emanating from Customs & Border Control Department and interpretation and application of the relevant tax laws in the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 and other supporting legislations.

Key Responsibilities of the job:

Review of objections emanating from Customs & Border Control Department

Collect information and participate in consultative meetings with the assessing department and the taxpayers

Prepare reports on the findings following the review of the documents provided

Consistent interpretation and uniform application of relevant tax laws as stipulated in the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004.

Presentation of approved findings and recommendations to the Objections Resolution Committee

Implementation of performance, audit, QMS, integrity and risk programmes

Academic qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Public Policy, Finance, Economics, Commerce or related field from a recognized University;

Professional qualification

A professional qualification in any relevant discipline is an added

Work experience

Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in customs administration or a related field.

Experience in customs post clearance audit and dispute resolution operations is an added advantage

Attention to details and ability to work under minimum supervision.

Proactivity and strong interpersonal skills

Good communication and presentation skills
