Child Welfare Tshwane (CWT) is a community-based Child Protection Organization that functions within the legal framework of the Children's Act 2005. CWT was founded in 1918 (104 years old), and is deeply rooted in the communities of Tshwane.
Our main aim is securing a better life for children in Tshwane, through various intervention strategies.
We provide safety and risk assessment services within the boundaries of the greater Tshwane Area, with the main objective to protect vulnerable and orphaned children. We have easily accessible service points located in Atteridgeville, Elandspoort, Mamelodi and Sunnyside. We also have a 24-hour residential care facility, Bramley Child & Youth Care Centre, in Groenkloof.
Structure and Staff:
Child Welfare Tshwane is governed by a community driven & representative Board of Management, and subcommittees.
The Director is responsible for all organisational & operational matters.
The Executive Management team comprises of the Director, Social Work Manager, Financial Manager, Human Resources Manager and Marketing/ Fundraising Manager.
The Executive Management team is supported by 5 programme Supervisors who are responsible for the line function implementation of the community interventions.
Child Welfare Tshwane currently has a total of 92 employees.

Qualifications and Experience required:
Degree in Social Work.
A Minimum of 15+ years Social Work experience.
Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
Sound knowledge of legislation pertaining to children and child protection services.
10+ years proven management experience.
Strategic and innovative leadership and strategic planning experience.
Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
Strong analytical skills.
High level duties:
Drive the implementation, exercise control over and proactively highlight risks relating
to the execution of all the CWT Board’s strategies and plans.
Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the Organisation.
Monitoring and keeping up to date with the legal and policy frameworks relating to the Social Work Services sector to ensure that the work of the organisation is aligned to the requirements of such Acts and policies.
Report on the wellbeing and performance of CWT at the monthly Finance Risk and HR Committee and quarterly Board of Management meetings.
Facilitate the development and planning of programs and interventions to enable employees to render high quality Social Work services in an efficient and effective manner.
Create and maintain an environment to ensure that all employees of the Organisation perform their functions and duties optimally.
Manage the Organisation through the efficient utilisation of human and financial resources.
Oversee / Manage the Social Work, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resource and Marketing Units within the Organisation.
Creatively enhance CWT’s image as a meritorious and attractive donor and/or partner option.
Provide leadership on complex social work services with the aim of protecting vulnerable and at-risk children.
Liaise and attend meetings with other Departments and Non-governmental Organisations when required as part of Stakeholder engagement.
Have a direct positive impact on the children of Tshwane, enable CWT to protect children and ensure that they can reach their full potential.
General:
SA Citizen, valid driver’s license, own transport.
Subject to requirements of DSD i.e. undergo an annual Police Clearance.
Good physical health and mental well-being.
Bilingual (English and any other South African language).
No criminal record and annual police clearance will be required.
Must be available for psychometric testing if required.
