KMFRI Laboratory Technologist II Jobs in Kenya
Laboratory Technologist Ii (Ri.8)Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities at this level will include:
Collecting, processing, preserving and analyzing water, sediment and biological samples; Preparing, managing and safely disposing samples and specimens;
Maintaining and preserving specimens and cultures;
Recording of experimental data;
Maintaining laboratory equipment;
Keeping laboratory records;
Carrying out demonstrations of laboratory functions to clients/visitors;
Supervision and on-the-job training of junior technical personnel;
Ordering of laboratory materials and safe storage of the same;
Planning, supervising and evaluating laboratory services at research centers;
Assisting in training of interns and students on attachment;
Assisting in training and guiding clients on improved technologies such as seaweed farming, fish farming and value addition; and any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C (Plain) or equivalent;
Diploma in any of the following disciplines:- Applied Biology; Science Laboratory Technology, Analytical Chemistry; Food Science Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Higher national diploma in Applied Biology/ Laboratory Technology/ Analytical Chemistry or equivalent from a recognized institution; and
Working knowledge of computer applications.
