Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare bodies, specimens forhumanorSans and,morgue room to assist pathologists

  • Place bodies in the compartment tray of the refrigerator or an autopsy table, using a portablehoist and stretcher.

  • Lays out surgical instruments and laboratory supplies for postmortem examinations

  • Washes tables, storage trays and instruments, sharpens knives and replaces soiled linensl

  • Records identifying information for morgue files.

  • Release body to authorized person;

  • Closes postmortem incisions using surgical needle and cordl

  • Fill a cranium with plaster

  • Prepare specimens and stain slides;

  • Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Competences:

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen

  • Have a minimum qualification of KCSE or KCPE or equivalent

  • Certificate in Embalming from a recognized institution or experience in hospital mortuary will be an added advantagel

  • Must be mature and able to handle clients effectively;

  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the values and principles outlined in Article 10 and 232 of the constitution

  • Have good interpersonal and communication skilis.

  • Have the abillty to work under mrnimal supervision;

  • Have the capacity to work under pressure

  • Have the ability to manage thebereaved effectively

  • Have the abllity to ensure safety and security of the morgue at alltimes
