5. Director of Survey Jobs in Kenya (1 Post) - Job Group ‘R’ Ref: KSM/CPSB/2017/202
Requirements for Appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen;
A first degree in Land Survey or any other related field;
A Masters’ degree in a related field will be an added advantage;
Must have served as Principal Land Surveyor Job Group “P”or at a comparable and relevant position in the private sector for a minimum period of three (3) years;
Must be computer proficient;
Must be a member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) of good standing;
A high degree of professional competence and administrative capability; and
Must have attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief Officer, Lands, Housing, Physical Planning & Urban Development, the Director
of Survey will:
Be responsible for the development, implementation and realization of the Department’s strategic plans and objectives
Prepare and implement the Department’s performance appraisal systems and contracts.
Provide effective and efficient Geographical Information in accordance with The Constitution of Kenya.
Provide modern geo-information in land surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, photolithography and hydrography for the establishment of a County Land Information System (CLIS) and Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI).
Formulate, review and monitor survey and mapping activities, including, county spatial data and infrastructure policies.
Approve cadastral, engineering and hydrographic surveys.
Oversee the finances and assets management of the Department
Institute operational accountability, overall management and development of staff.
Liaise with development partners to secure technical and financial support for development plans and promotion of new and emerging technology in surveying and mapping fields.
Authorize research of new and emerging technologies.
Prepare and publish plans, maps and charts.

6. Senior Land Surveyor Jobs in Kenya (2 Posts) - Job Group ‘M/N’ Ref: KSM/CPSB/2017/203
Requirements for Appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen;
Must have a first degree in - Land Surveying and Photogrammetry or any other related field from a recognized institution;
Must have served as a Land Surveyor at Job Group “L” or at a comparable and relevant position in the Private Sector for a minimum period of three (5) years;
Must be computer proficient;
Must be a member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK);
Must have demonstrated merit and ability
as reflected in the work performance and results
Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the values and principles outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya
Duties and Responsibilities
The County Surveyor will be responsible to the Director of Surveys for:
Planning, directing, controlling and coordinating technical and administrative activities of land survey
Supervising and implementing quality control of topographical, engineering, cadastral and general boundary surveys;
Maintaining, testing, calibrating and certifying survey equipment;
Establishing Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI).
Supervising small, medium and large area cadastral surveys
Supervising small, medium and high density topographical surveys
Carrying out large area cadastral, geodetic and mapping control surveys
Any other functions as may be delegated by the Director.

Carrying out angular and distance measurements and computation for medium and high density topographical, site engineering, general boundary, cadastral and photo control surveys.
Carrying out preliminary quality control of topographical, engineering, cadastral and general
boundary surveys.
