Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for Fisheries officers at degree level. Officers at this level will be deployed at the sub county level.
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

Collecting, collating and analyzing fisheries statistical data and preparing reports;

Assisting in monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;

Undertaking fisheries extension activities including farm visits, demonstrations, fields days etc.;

Inspecting fish and fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms; and

Assisting in the promotion of fish marketing and value addition.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this post, a candidate must have:-

Kenyan Citizenship

Bachelor degree in any of the following fields: Fisheries, Zoology, Aquatic Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Biological Science, Animal science, Wildlife Management or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution:

Master’s degree in fisheries/ aquatic sciences will be an added advantage

Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution.
