KIRDI Animal Feeds Formulation Training in Kenya

Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) is a state corporation under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives.

KIRDI in collaboration with Animal Health and Nutrition Stakeholders is organizing a training course on animal feeds formulation for commercial and on-farm use The Institute has undertaken this training annually since 2011 with very successful outcomes.

Since the inception of the training more than 290 participants from different counties within Kenya as well as from countries across the East African region have been trained.

This training benefits county governments, feed manufacturers, feed related affiliates, universities, community-based organizations (CBOs), farmers, feed suppliers and researchers

The training scope covers basics of animal nutrition, feed stuffs and their selection, quality control of both the raw material and feed product, processing of feed stuffs, feeding standards and ration formulation (using computer software).

The minimum level of education for trainees is at least KCSE with a basic understanding of computers.
