Our client Kiptagich Tea Estates seeks to hire a Factory Manager to drive its current expansion and automation processes.

Main Purpose of Job

She/he will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed while developing processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities/accountabilities

Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customers’ expectations

Ensure compliance to Plant, Division, Corporate and regulatory quality assurance requirements in the areas of material inspection, in-process quality control, finished product evaluation, housekeeping and other related food safety and quality matters as well as compliance to local, state and international regulatory agencies.

Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping

Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results

Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus

Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions

Share a trusting relationship with work groups and recruit, manage and develop plant staff

Collect and analyze data to find places of waste

Commit to plant safety procedures

Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets

Address employees’ issues or grievances

Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in food technology/ Food Processing or relevant field

7 years proven working experience in the food processing industry as a plant manager

Personal Attributes

Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

An effective and excellent communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information

Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources)

Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)

Be knowledgeable of Occupational safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
