Job SummaryThe Senior Powertrain Systems Engineer is responsible for directing powertrain project activities through application of proficient technical knowledge and leadership competencies.
The span of powertrain projects responsibly includes initial gathering of the voice of the customer performance requirements, product definition, product design, product development, manufacturing support and product launch.
Key Functions
Provide project leadership, mentoring, and training for new or junior-level powertrain engineers on design and development processes, software, procedures, specifications, etc;
Guide reviews and reports on engineering metrics and/or test results through engineering reports and written correspondence to ensure timely and effective communication with supervisors and colleagues;
Conduct Design, development, and failure analysis through the use of DFMEA, customer returns, or specific development projects;
Support the implementation of design changes to improve quality, performance, cost reduction, and standardization through analysis of designs and problem solving techniques;
Provide technical guidance to engineering personnel on various powertrain systems and makes presentations to internal and external customers on different programs or products as required;
Develop the necessary documentation relating to the development of powertrain systems;
Mentor and train other technical support staff on technical and procedural matters; and
Any other duties assigned by the Powertrain & EE systems Manager
Person Specifications:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Electrical Engineering or Related Field from a recognized Institution;
Must be a registered Engineer by a recognized professional body; and
Master’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Engineering/Operations Management or Related Field from a recognized Institution is an added advantage.
Experience
General working experience of at least four (4) years; two (2) of which should have been served in a Powertrain Systems Engineer Position in a
reputable organization preferably in the automotive industry
Competencies
Technical
Familiar with powertrain systems, powertrain configurations (ICE, Hybrid, EV) related regulations, requirements, design and release;
Background of powertrain system design and validation, including durability, NVH and all functional requirements;
Acquainted with system functions such as NVH/CFD/FEA, Chassis and Body etc;
Knowledge of FMECA/FMEA, FEA, EPL’s, OEM Engineering Release Process, QS9000; and
Strong Background in Vehicle Electrification and alternative Vehicle Propulsions
