Kidsrights International Children’s Peace Prize for Individuals Improving Children’s Rights

The International Children’s Peace Prize is awarded annually to a child who fights courageously for children’s rights. Winning the International Children’s Peace Prize puts your changemaker in news headlines around the world. Last year, the winner’s message reached more than 3.5 billion people!

All winners have shown a remarkable commitment to combating problems millions of children face worldwide. The motivation behind the prize is to provide a platform for children to express their ideas and personal involvement in children’s rights.

KidsRights feels that children should be recognized, awarded and motivated in their fierce efforts to improve their own situation and that of the children in their environment and even the world.

Nomination requirements

The nomination requirements are the following:

Any person above the age of 18 or an organization can nominate a child

The child must be between the age of 12 and 17 by the time of the nomination deadline

The child can be from any country in the world

The child must have a demonstrable history of standing up and fighting for the rights of children, including himself or herself

The child needs to be able to travel abroad and feel comfortable communicating with other people. In fact, if they are chosen as the winner, they will need to

travel to the ceremony and be able to communicate their message to different stakeholders

The child agrees to being nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize

The Prize

The winner receives the statuette ‘Nkosi’, which shows how a child sets the world in motion. This statuette designed by Inge Ikink and is named after our very first winner, Nkosi Johnson.

The winner also receives a study and care grant and a worldwide platform to promote his or her ideals and causes to the benefit of children’s rights.

Furthermore, a project fund of €100,000 is invested by KidsRights in projects that are closely connected to the winners’ area of work in the country of the winner.

Study and Care Fund

The winner receives a scholarship from KidsRights to enable him or her to obtain education up until and including the university degree. Secondly, financial care is made available to support the winner and his or her family in livelihood costs, where needed.

Project Fund

The Children’s Peace Prize is accompanied by a project fund of €100,000. Each year this fund is invested by KidsRights in projects that are closely connected to the winner’s area of work in the country of the winner.
