Our client KETEPA Kenya is a well established brand in the Kenyan tea packers industry.
They wish to recruit an Engineer for the position of Assistant Maintenance Manager - Mechanical.
Broad Function
Ensure mechanical servicing of all the packing machines, their cost effectiveness in operation and maintenance
Ensure Plant availability at optimum operating capacity as and when required for production
Plan and supervise maintenance shift cover as per packing operations production plans.
Organizing teams for shift cover
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
Coordinate maintenance and repair services according to manufactures instructions and established procedures in the most cost effective manner.
Ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out within laid down quality system procedures
Establish job priorities and time frames for maintenance.
In liaison with Maintenance manager, gives technical input to management committees and responds to technical information both internally and externally
Guide and assist the maintenance shift supervisors in resolving equipment breakdowns.
In consultation with the Maintenance Manager develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule .
Supervise Mechanical contracts and ensure contract objectives are met.
Ensure appropriate documentation of maintenance schedule, work orders and other functional reports.
Coordinate maintenance & repair activities to obtain optimum utilization
of machines so as to meet production quotas, quality and deadlines
Determine critical inventory of spare parts for machinery and ensure sufficient stocking.
Preparation of mechanical engineering budget for inclusion in maintenance master budget.
Participate and Implement machinery
improvement projects in the Factory
Controls sectional budget including monitoring cost of inventory and overtime for staff
Carry out internal quality and food safety system audits as guided by ISO programs
Propose training requirements, train staff & monitor job performance to enhance quality, skill levels and competency
Directs and co-ordinates activities involving installation, testing & commissioning of mechanical & electromechanical equipment to meet manufacturer specification
Academic Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a related field
Professional Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (plant option), Production engineering
Experience
5-7 years experience 2 at supervisory level
Skills
Computer proficiency
Mechanical and Analytical skills
Knowledge in PLC
Auto CAD
Pneumatic systems
Automated packaging equipment
