Kenya Revenue Authority Domestic Taxes Officer Temporary Jobs
Purpose of the JobAdminister the relevant Tax Acts, for assessment, collection and accounting for Revenue through:
Tax Base Expansion Tier II is a recruitment drive to recruit taxpayers not in our database and identify other non-compliant Taxpayers’ this includes but is not limited to Block Management System, Professional and presumptive tax, or
Enhanced Debt Collection officers will be responsible for the validation, collection and accounting of tax debts in the iTax system, or
Field Enforcement, Factory Control and Case Management
Duties and Responsibilities
Tax Base Expansion Tier II
Addition of relevant tax obligations.
Incubation of newly registered taxpayers.
Contact taxpayers from data shared to update them on their tax compliance status.
Educate taxpayers on their tax obligations and filing procedures e.g. filing due dates, penalties and interest.
Assist taxpayers in filing of monthly and yearly tax returns.
Compiling data for assessments to be raised.
Use data shared by other departments to add relevant tax obligations, turn around Nil filers, collect revenue on the first returns.
Prepare relevant operational reports.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Enhanced Debt Collection
Manage all allocated debtors.
Undertake debt validation
Carry out debt collection functions (issuance of demand notices& payment plans) to meet assigned targets.
Monitor daily collections and expectation.
Undertake debt recovery as guided by the approved framework and relevant policies
Facilitate ledger cleaning/correction and reconciliation of taxpayer ledger.
Facilitate processing of tax compliance certificates.
Undertake follow up of payment returns without cheques and underpayments
Carry out debt enforcement roles as assigned.
Prepare waiver and write offs submissions.
Compile relevant daily, weekly and monthly reports.
Maintenance of records and registers.
Perform any
other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Enforcement
Gathering market Surveillance intelligence and information
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly intelligence related flash reports on all intelligence gathered
Carrying out covert and over field operations geared towards tax collection
Enforcing compliance with Tax laws
Monitoring compliance with import and export regulations
Educate taxpayers
Prepare relevant operational reports
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
A University Degree from a recognised University.
Basic understanding of the Domestic Tax Laws.
Basic understanding of the strategic direction of KRA.
Demonstrate ability to work under minimum supervision.
Excellent customer care skills
Must be trustworthy, competent, ethical and helpful.
