The main Campus is in Meru with Campuses in Nairobi and Mombasa
Kenya Methodist University is seeking to appoint an eminent individual with an earned
Doctorate degree and an outstanding track record in academic and business leadership
for the position of Principal
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the following are the duties and responsibilities for Campus Principal:
In charge of growth and development of the campus and the implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
Coordination of the academic functions of the Campus
Coordination of Financial and development activities of the Campus
Coordinate resource mobilization in the campus.
Establish, financial and administrative systems, controls and procedures for the
campus;
Provide enabling environment for teaching and learning as well as recreation activities for staff and students in the campus
Provide periodic and annual progress reports to the Management Board and Senate
Develop and implement initiatives for student enrolment, retention and success;
Mentor, train & manage staff progress using performance management systems;
Maintain efficiency and good order of the Campus and ensure proper enforcement of the statutes and regulations.
Lead diverse work teams & develop organization-wide strategy for excellent service delivery;
Develop a risk management framework of the campus;
Establish and maintain effective internal and external communication, with highest
standards of integrity, objectivity and rationale in execution.
Develop strong global networks to position the University on the global map in partnerships with relevant Institutions and funding bodies.
Liaise with business
partners, external networks/stakeholders and regulatory bodies like commission for University Education (CUE) for compliance;
Requirements
Applicants must have an earned PhD from a recognized and accredited University
Should be a senior lecturer and above
Should have at least ten (10) years’ experience in academic/ research environment with at least 3 years’ administrative experience as dean or director
Experience in fundraising and resource mobilization
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
High ethical and moral standards, integrity and professionalism
Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and facilitate the development
of relevant and quality society driven academic programmes
Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and sustain linkages and networks for the promotion of scholarship
Have proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development in a university setting
Have a good understanding of the national laws, regulations and policies governing university education and training.
Have a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of higher education in Kenya.
Possession of Strategic Leadership and Development certificate and experience.
Employment will be on a Three (3) year contract renewable once depending on performance.
