Kenya - Illegal school fees responsible for high drop-out rates

Charging school children illegal fees and other unnecessary levies is partly responsible for the high dropout rates in Kenya's public schools.

Primary school enrolment across Kenya has fallen from 100 percent to 70 percent over the last 10 years. In North Eastern, enrolment in primary education is at 20 percent of the primary school age population.
