Kenya High Commission in London Caretaker of the Chancery Jobs


The Chancery Caretaker shall under the direction, control and guidance of the Head of Chancery perform the following duties and responsibilities:-

• Monitor the flow of people coming in/out of the Chancery through the CCTV system.

• Escort visitors to the respective officers if and when necessary.

• Maintain order and law at the Reception of the Chancery,

• Assist visa Section at the Reception when requested

• Manage the entrance door to the Chancery

• Maintain and keep reception/visitor’s book at the maintain entrance door,

• Check and monitor the smoke detector/alarm intruder at the Chancery,

• Walk in the entire chancery every evening after officer hours to check the windows, doors, portable heaters to ensure that they are either properly closed or switched off to avoid fire hazard.

• Perform any other duties as directed by the Head of Mission or any responsible officer

The Chancery Caretaker is also responsible for conducting the following Maintenance duties:-

• Changing light bulbs/fuses at the Chancery

• Doing minor plumbing jobs at the Chancery

• Polishing brass plates

• Cleaning marble floor/door at the entrance

• Checking lift motor room/car lift/heating panel room

• Checking leaking water at the ceiling/lavatories/toilets

• Tiding old visa forms/broken glass/rubbish

• Spraying water at the front wall office to be cleaned after rain

• Remove net curtains to be taken to dry clean and hang them when they are ready

• After office parties make sure everything is in order.

• Hoist the Kenyan flag daily

• Perform any other duties as directed by the Head of Mission or any responsible officer.

Qualifications

• KCSE certificate or GCSE certificate or
equivalent:

• On-the job training in real estate management or experience in the building/real estate management

• Three (3) year experience

• Recommendation for exemplary work performance

Skills & Proficiencies:

• Written and Verbal Communication

• Interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of building management

• Knowledge of essential plumbing and electrical wiring skills.

• Must be a person of Integrity, and Professionalism.

  • The positions are for a duration of twenty three (23) months, and the successful applicants will be subject to Kenya High Commission Terms and Conditions of Service, as well as applicable UK laws and regulations.
