Job Purpose StatementReporting to the Head of Procurement, the ideal candidate will be required to develop, implement and maintain cost efficient procurement strategies for operations that directly support the airline.
These includes procurement of Technical Spare-Parts like Engines and Outstation services which includes Ground Handling for both Technical and Service - Ground Handling Agents (SGHA) and Ground Sales Agent (GSA) for both Commercial and Cargo, to ensure a seamless safe and reliable supply chain for Kenya Airways PLC.
He/she will monitor market trends and provide Kenya Airways with innovative solutions for direct procurement solutions.
Specifically, the successful jobholder will be required to:
Monitor supply market trends (e.g. material price increases, shortages, changes in suppliers) interpreting the impact of these trends on company strategies.
Providing alternate solutions where required, keeping abreast of innovation amongst OEM and MRO suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance and evaluate for improvement and cost reduction.
Improve supplier base as new vendors enter the market to ensure supplier consolidation strategy is implemented.
Drive ERP, Oases and other system utilization to ensure integrity and provide visibility along the chain while ensuring that contracts deliver value for KQ.
Source competitive bids from vendors, evaluate and negotiate with vendors in close consultation with the business stakeholders in adherence to company policies and pertains sourcing and negotiations to ensure that KQ gets value.
Buy products and services at the right price from the right source at the right specification that meets the user needs and in the right quantity, for delivery at the right time to the right internal customer in line with company policy and procedure.
Ensure regular evaluation and selection of suppliers through the approved procurement process.
Performance on service delivery jointly with internal customers.
Perform continuous and proactive review of specification or requirements to ensure greater leverage of requirements and
supplier consolidation.
Develop performance management strategy of suppliers against contract to ensure value for money for Kenya Airways both in service and delivery.
Ensure supplier use of I-SUPPLIER to enhance transparency and service delivery.
Provide procurement leadership to internal stakeholders, this entails verification of specifications, evaluation of customer needs progress, updates and obtaining feedback.
Ensure development of plans to assist in timely procurement.
Manage the buying team to ensure 100% system utilization and timely delivery.
Develop SLA’s and performance criteria that will be used to evaluate and pre-qualify suppliers.
Develop quarterly evaluation criteria for consolidation of categories for suppliers.
Monitor market to ensure new supplier and product identification.
Provide monthly spend and reports on categories whilst tracking costs as per company target.
Manage buyers to ensure all open PO are closed within approved timelines.
Review invoices, delivery notes and ensure timely payment of suppliers to avoid interruption to the business.
Qualifications
Degree in Business related field.
Graduate diploma in Procurement.
Membership in KISM, CIPS or any other SC body.
Good negotiation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skill.
Good communication skills
Strong Analytical skills
Of highest integrity and honesty
5 years or more in procurement
