KenGen Investment Officer Jobs in Kenya; The position is responsible for supporting all the investment activities for the Scheme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities are:

a) Provide support in monitoring the operations of the DB and DC Schemes investment
portfolios with a focus on maximizing returns at minimal risks

b) Reporting on the monitoring of targeted Schemes investment strategies documented
through the Investment Policy Statement and which are in line with respective DB and
DC Schemes 10-year Strategy

c) Assessment of asset allocations and ensuring appropriate portfolio re-balancing by the
investment managers

d) Providing key support in identification, appraisal, structuring and negotiation of
alternative and offshore investments

e) Participate in analyzing investments portfolios valuation, performance and risk metrics

f) Participate in recommending the hiring of top-decile-performing investment
managers

g) Participate in investment reporting & ensuring investments compliance

h) Monitoring custodial account cash balances to ensure timely investment, accurate
collection of income from financial instruments, optimal cash flow projections
(withdrawals for operational use & receipt of contributions) and cash movement
reconciliation between fund managers and custodian records

i) Tracking existing financial assets performance to provide insight on performance
issues/recommend for divestment sale where necessary

j) Conducting assets valuation and ensure reconciliation with fund managers reports

k) Identifying and regularly conducting the Scheme’s investment SWOT analysis

l) Preparing reports for monthly management strategy meetings;

Knowledge and
Skills Required:


The job holder must possess;

a) Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field

b) Must have completed CIFA and registered with ICIFA, or CFA or CISI or CPA (K) or ACCA

c) Membership to relevant professional bodies in good standing

d) A minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in the assessment of investment
opportunities, investment management , analyzing investments portfolios valuation,
performance and risk.

e) Substantial experience in identifying, analysing, negotiating, structuring investment
portfolios

f) Substantial knowledge of investment of pension funds as well as global trends and
developments for similar investments

g) Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

h) Excellent written and verbal communication skills

i) Excellent report writing and strong analytical skills, financial modelling skills, and
presentation skills

j) Ability to work under minimal supervision
