Organization: Kenya NGO Alliance Against Malaria (KeNAAM) is a Network of Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Faith Based Organizations (FBO), Community Based Organization working on advocacy, community social mobilization for scaling up of malaria interventions in Kenya.
KeNAAM endeavors to pool resources together through its elaborate networks towards preventing, controlling and reducing socio-economic burden due to malaria. KeNAAM’s vision is “a malaria free Kenya”
Summary: The Research Assistant will work closely with the technical teams in conducting literature review, data management, recruiting participants, supporting key informants’ interviews, obtaining
consents, maintaining files, scheduling and conducting interviews, assisting with data analysis and generating correspondence, reports and graphics.
The Research Assistant will support the successful delivery of a research project to be implemented by Kenya NGO Alliance Against Malaria (KeNAAM).
Key Responsibilities
Contact potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol and to arrange interviews, either in person or by telephone.
Work with the technical team to execute the survey by administering questionnaires, conducting physical and follow-up phone interviews with study participants, as per the set guidelines and procedures.
Support the lead researchers in conducting literature review and synthesize secondary data.
Work with the technical team to ensure consistency of data parameters and adherence to the survey guidelines and instruments.
Liaise with technical team to perform appropriate data entry quality checks to ensure accuracy.
Liaise with technical team to ensure accurate and detailed data transcription.
Work with the technical team to coordinate data collection and clean various datasets.
Coordinate with the technical team and notify the core team of any misinformation or feedback.
Closely adhere to protocols regarding data quality, sampling and information management.
Maintain
accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary.
Provide ready access to all data for the lead researcher/supervisor.
Attend project meetings as necessary.
Requirements:
Level of Education/Academic Qualification;
Diploma in Public Health, Social Sciences or human health related field, High School Certificate Grade C+ and above with relevant research experience may be considered.
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in public health Research.
Certificate in Protection of Human Research Subjects and Good Clinical Practice.
Excellent analytic and computer skills; REDCap/SPSS/ODK/STATA/Survey-CTO.
Experience in designing and implementation of mixed method evaluation plans.
Thorough familiarity with principles and current approaches to research, evaluation and accountability.
Competencies / Abilities / Skills Required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, Strong interpersonal skills as well as good judgment and vision.
Excellent organizational skills, teamwork and ability to prioritize tasks in a timely manner.
Sound coordination skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task, Demonstrates diplomacy, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
Ability to work in a rural and multi-cultural environment.
