KEMRI-Wellcome Early Research Fellow - Clinical Healthcare and Research - Jobs in Kilifi Kenya
KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme (KWTRP) is one of the leading research centres in Africa.
The Programme engages in a wide range of research on the main causes of ill health in Africa.
We have capacity in laboratory, clinical and epidemiological research and an opportunity to harness this capacity to study anti-microbial resistance (AMR), a pressing problem for human health in Kenya and globally.
The post holder will be responsible for defining a specific area of AMR work and taking this forward with support from PIs with clinical, epidemiological and laboratory skills.
The post holder will be encouraged to use the resources currently available in the Programme (i.e. clinical surveillance data, sample collections, demographic surveillance) and also to develop applications to support further funding.
The post will be funded for 3 years, with an expectation that funding will be sought for further work.
The post would best suit a doctor with a higher degree in clinical research, or a non-clinician with a PhD in a relevant area such as epidemiology or microbiology.
We consider that important research for public health on AMR can be based on a variety of different training backgrounds, and the ideal candidate will be one with a strong background in one of the disciplines listed below and an ability to engage with cross-disciplinary work with appropriate support.
We will support a suitable attachment for experience in bacteriology for the successful candidate if needed.
