Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) Centre for Respiratory Diseases Research would like to fill the following vacancy in the Clinical Trials Studies to be conducted at the KEMRI-Mtwapa Clinical Research Site in Kilifi County.

Person specification:

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing qualification from a recognized institution

Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;

Valid Practicing Licensing from Nursing Council of Kenya

Proficiency in computer application

Demonstrated work performance and results

At least three years’ experience working in a clinical trial or research setting will be an added advantage

Strong managerial skills and ability to lead teams.

Mentoring and coaching skills.

Interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Team player.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Taking part in developing and implementing nursing care policies related to research activities

Promoting innovation, creativity and excellence in nursing activities in the site

Ensure implementation of nursing care and services required by the various diverse research studies within the site

Spearhead patient\client Centeredness’ practices within the site

Monitoring and evaluating nursing activities to ensure compliance with prevailing guidelines and statutory requirements

Ensuring performance contracting and capacity building by appraising nursing staff

Participating in scientific meetings

Reviewing and approving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Establishing staff training needs and recommending training programs; and

Coach and mentor nursing staff.
