Overall Purpose of the Job:

The overall purpose of the job is to ensure the successful preparation of tenders, compliance with project requirements, proper interpretation of drawings, and inspection of tendered work to ensure high-quality work from contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive a brief about the project requirements.

  • Prepare tendering documents such as bills of quantities, specifications, etc.

  • Assist in the tendering process, including pre-tender site inspections, receiving tenders, and conducting technical evaluations of tenders.

  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents.

  • Ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.

  • Evaluate and prepare interim payment certificates.

  • Prepare and maintain material take-off bills of quantities, work plans, tender documents, etc.

  • Keep records of daily work site progress and track any delays.

  • Maintain records of measurements for work done and used for tendering.

  • Keep records of materials supplied to contractors from stores and ensure compliance with standards.

  • Prepare necessary certificates as required.

  • Handle and safely keep project levels, road wheel meters, and other measuring equipment entrusted to you.

  • Regularly visit project sites to monitor contractor and supplier activity, aiming to avoid cost escalation.

  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Projects Manager, outlining work progress on sites and other important information.

  • Enforce and adhere to company safety, health, and environmental procedures to maintain a safe working environment and prevent work-related accidents.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the manager from time to time.

    Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from an accredited university is required.

  • Membership in the Surveyor Registration Board
    is required.

    Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a similar job role.

  • Must be a registered member of the Surveyor's Registration Board in Uganda.

  • Proven knowledge and skills in the application of BOQ-related software and MS Office packages (especially civil 3D, QS-CAD, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Attention to detail, good task allocation, record-keeping, report writing skills, and good communication skills are essential.

  • Ms Office: A candidate for this position must be proficient in the use of Ms Word, Ms Excel, and PowerPoint,

  • Analytical Skills: A candidate for this position must be capable of gathering and interpreting raw information and data, documenting findings, and drawing appropriate recommendations.

  • Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be a helpful, calm and professional individual, have strong time management skills.

  • People Skills: individual who is able to gunner the trust and respect of departmental heads and management?
