Kabale University Counsellor Jobs in Uganda

To support the provision of effective and confidential counseling services to students and members of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides counselling and guidance to students and staff on demand.
  • Monitors the progress of staff and students who have undergone counselling and guidance.
  • Assists in compiling and maintaining a database of useful information on guidance and counselling and makes it available to clients.
  • Establishes and maintains close working links with academic and administrative organs of the University that offer welfare and psychological support services
  • Liaises with other entities engaged in counselling and guidance in building a pool of and support for better services helping clients.
  • Participates in sensitization workshops or seminars for staff and students on matters relating to counselling and guidance.
  • Refers students and staff to other support services and agencies as appropriate.
  • Performs official duties assigned by the Senior Counsellor.

    Requirements

  • Should have a Masters in Psychiatry, Philosophy, Counseling and Guidance or related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Should have at least three (3) years’ experience in counseling from a reputable institution.
  • Should have good communication and listening skills.
  • Should have a positive attitude towards people.
  • Should have good interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to relate to people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
  • Should be a team player.
  • Should have demonstrable attributes of sincerity, integrity, confidentiality and empathy.
