Joy as St Joseph High School, Kitale records 73 straight As in KCSE

It was celebrations at St Joseph High School in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County after it recorded an impressive mean score of 11.022 in the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The school that was promoted to the national status two years ago with 316 candidates had 73 (A), 189 (A-), 43 (B+) 9 (B) and 2 (B-).

It had a mean score of 10.3 in 2014 with 298 candidates sitting for the examination.

“The philosophy of not letting anyone down not even the institution, has inspired our students to utilise available resources to emulate admirable results by their predecessors,” explained Mr Peter Obwogo, the school principal.

Mr Obwogo who bagged the Principal of the Year Award (POYA) in 2015 attributed winning culture and quest for excellence in academic and leadership for improved performance at the institution.

“Discipline impacted on the students enables them to excel both academically and in outdoor activities making the institution a role model to others,” added Mr Obwogo.

Parents, teachers and county education officials joined the students in celebrating the sterling performance.

The school, with a student population of about 1,600, is rated among the top performers in the country.

According to Mr Obwogo, the institution has been admitting an average of 120 students to public universities in the last seven years.
