Job DescriptionBackgroundCIAI – Italian Association for Aid to Children is an Association founded in 1968. CIAI promotes the recognition of the child and support its well-being.
In the communities in which it operates, CIAI takes care of the most vulnerable children, guaranteeing their protection, psycho-emotional well-being and social inclusion.
Role and ResponsibilityThe MEAL Officer:
Design, coordinates and supports the MEAL monitoring, evaluation accountability and learning cum reporting activities of CIAI in SNNPR, using the templates and formats from both donors and CIAI.
Exceptionally, the MEAL Officer may be requested to assist the implementation of the same component for other CIAI offices in the country;
Guarantees the correct drafting and implementation of the MEAL component related to the project reports for both the local authorities, the CIAI headquarters and for any donors involved;
Analyze the data collected through the MEAL system and prepare proper reports and researches
While fulfilling the Organization's procedures under CIAI’s “Three Year Plan 2018 - 2020” collaborates in all CIAI related activities in Ethiopia concerning the identification of new project proposals, the inherent data collection and research and the drafting of new project proposals using the templates and formats from both donors and CIAI;
Contributes to the training of human resources employed in implemented projects with regards to Project Cycle Management, and particularly on MEAL data collection, monitoring and reporting tools and activities;
Ensures correct communication between the different managerial levels, both at the Country level and with the HQ in Italy;
Participate to the planning and implementation of awareness events. Supervises
the organization and preparation of materials for community awareness and the institutional communication component in coordination with both the CIAI Funding and Communication Sector in Milan and the project staff;
Starting of the Collaboration: August 2019
Duration of the collaboration 12 month, renewable by mutual agreement
Job Requirements
Required skills:
Degree in either: legal, economics, political and social sciences, education sciences, statistics, masters and / or higher education course;
Previous experience of at least 2 years managing MEAL Monitoring and Evaluation, Accountability and Learning activities;
Experience in working effectively with local NGO/CSOs;
Knowledge of PCM and the Rights-based Approach;
Strong organizational, communication, relational and empathic skills;
Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively;
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic;
Willingness to complete missions in remote areas;
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office package / mailing services)
Ethiopian citizenship or permanent residential ID.
Driving license (car and motorbike).
Place of work: the collaborator will mainly work at the coordination office of CIAI in Arba Minch (SNNPR). He/she will work in team with other Ethiopian colleagues and under the supervision of the CIAI Country Representative in Ethiopia. Field missions are expected to be executed where the projects are implemented.
