They work within a team to create experiences that engage students in deeper learning and develop 21st century literacies through projects, problems and conceptual inquiry.
An ISK teacher designs and facilitates equitable learning environments that promote inclusion and well-being for a community of learners.

Responsibilities
Maintain professional competence by keeping abreast of educational trends, research best practice and new innovations in education, develop the curriculum and lead through understanding of the philosophy and pedagogy of the elementary school.
Innovators Seek out opportunities to improve learning. Model for colleagues the exploration, evaluation, and adoption of new practices and tools for learning.
Take risks to lead professional learning.
Designers Design Integrated, Experiential, and Personalized experiences within equitable environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. Employ backward design and plan for the application of skills through conceptual inquiry within integrated disciplines and experiential learning (co-curricular activities).
Design authentic learning experiences that align with content area standards and the curriculum as adopted by the Board of Directors.
Design personalized learning that is differentiated, involves multiple access points, supports passion, fosters independence and responds to learner differences and needs.
Collaborators Participate in reflective partnerships and collaborative teams. Engage with colleagues as learners, designers, facilitators, researchers and active community members.
Co-learn with students.
Build the school’s strategic vision through faculty committees and curriculum development programs.
Implement cooperative
learning structures.
Partner with families through regular communication.
Establish community partnerships for authentic and experiential learning opportunities.
Build an agentic community of learners who are self-directed, have a voice in their education and take ownership of their learning.
Foster a culture of learning based on ISK’s philosophy of inclusion.
Create opportunities for learners to think, interact, reflect and innovate.
Honor ISK’s diversity through culturally proficient practices.
Researchers Observe, document, analyze and respond to learning through collective inquiry and action research. Analyze learning data, improve practices and respond to learners and learning.
Develop responsive feedback, assessment principles and practices.
Communicate learning with students and the community.
Active Community Members Live, promote and embed the ISK mission, vision, educational aims Reinforce a positive social and emotional environment that builds relationships and community.
Always act with principles that represent the school well.
Share our vision to our community through initiatives, forums, workshops, communications, etc.
Create experiences for learners to to positively contribute to and responsibly participate in the world.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in relevant subject(s)
Teacher certification from an accredited university/college
Minimum 2 years relevant teaching experience
Cultural proficiency and understanding of intercultural learning with teaching experience in a multicultural setting
Competent in using educational technology, including Google Suite, and experience integrating technology
Fluent English speaker with excellent writing and communication skills
Solid understanding of pedagogy and instructional approaches, curriculum design and assessment

Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning
Workshop model (structure and philosophy)
Mathematics
inclusive classrooms and practices (ie. differentiation, personalized learning, Universal Design for Learning)

data analysis and goal setting for responsive teaching
