Job Description DAL Foods, the biggest agri-food business in Sudan and a sub-sector of the DAL Group is seeking an: R&D Managers (Dairy)
Reporting directly to the VP/Head of Dairy & Beverages, in the role of R&D Manager, you will be in the company’s growth heart, and together with your NPD team you must enable the competitive edge and create new opportunities for the DAL-Food Division.
Responsibilities
Full operational responsibility of the NPD, products maintenance, technical services, and research related to the Dairy & Beverages area: Milk, Milk Powder, tomato paste, etc.
Oversees product development and leads the NPD team, managing and protecting the IP assuring the accountability of the R&D part of the innovation-renovation-optimisation projects, related applications, and knowledge services.
Contributes to the strategic planning for the products categories and translates it into annual and three-year R&D plans with targets and KPIs, ensuring the innovation-renovation-optimisation projects are completed on time, properly recorded and within the budget, in accordance with corporate strategy.
Promotes a productive R&D culture that is motivated and accountable having customers focus on innovation, quality, and improving the user experience.
Leverages internal and external relationships to understand, discover, and develop new and enhanced products, overcoming barriers to innovation.
Explores new scientific technologies and approaches and determines their applicability that positively separates DAL Food Division from its competitors, while keeping abreast of competitive products and technology advances, including new categories.
Lead product development & validate performance against corporate business goals. Interface and communicate project status with customers and the commercial team
Maintain accurate records on project files, milestone charts, design reviews, product formulations, yield data, procedures, and costing analysis pertinent to various
projects
Qualifications
Ideally a master’s degree, with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry and related areas.
At least 7 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a similar leading position within the food industry.
Extensive knowledge about raw materials, ingredients and their interaction in the application and processing of food products (dairy products, in particular).
Proven project management skills, able to demonstrate a practical understanding of the NPD Process.
Fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic will be a surplus.
