Job DescriptionSignpost Signpost is an innovative digital initiative providing the humanitarian community with a platform to reach refugees, asylum seekers and crisis-affected communities around the world with accessible information.
Signpost programming will take a holistic approach to address information needs in Kakuma, Hagadera (Dabaab) and Nairobi.
Signpost is a useful information resource for people in need fosters more in-depth community, more trust, and, most importantly, more utility for its users.
Job Overview
IRC is seeking a Signpost Manager based in Nairobi under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Manager and will support the Signpost teams in Nairobi and the Hagadera and Kakuma refugee camps.
The Signpost Manager will lead the Signpost team in delivering reliable and accurate information to vulnerable communities such as refugees, asylum seekers, displaced communities, and refugee hosting communities.
He/She will ensure project management tools are developed, implemented, and tracked and will facilitate collaboration amongst Signpost (Editorial, moderators, service mapping) and protection staff in Kenya.
Major Responsibilities
Train staff on implementation of global moderation guidelines and Signpost Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in liaison with the technical team
Develop and maintain relationships with third-party content providers. Ensure third-party content receives appropriate technical review.
Represent Signpost, Kenya at conferences and in interagency meetings
Ensure content developed adhere to editorial standards
Collaborate with teams in managing content across Signpost platforms.
Lead team meetings, trainings, learning sessions etc
Ensure project activities are well detailed, updated, supervised and reports are generated
Collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Information Technology departments to ensure smooth implementation
Collaborate closely with relevant departments such as protection, health, economic recovery, and development to provide relevant assistance and services
Support Senior Manager to forge connections with key government counterparts at the ministerial level, UN, I/NGOs, human rights actors,
county and other sub-national government actors.
Lead in day to day program administration, operations, and implementation
Support in management of partnerships
Staff Support
Provide technical guidance, on the job mentoring and coaching for the moderators and senior editorial officers
Ensure ongoing training and targeted capacity building of signpost team.
Review performance of Signpost staff in the field and provide supportive approaches to address issues identified.
Job Requirements
Work Experience
Approximately 6 years of relevant management experience in similar capacity.
Experience working with a humanitarian organization.
Experience in web or social media content development and or management
Ability to lead projects to successful completion
Strong leadership, staff and budget management and capacity building skills.
Excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, flexibility, ability to improvise, great teammate.
Demonstrated management capacity
Experience in developing and leading trainings
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Sociology, Communications, or another relevant field
Advanced English language skills, oral and written.
Preferred Experience & Skills
Experience in leading teams
Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize and deliver on time
Strong analytic problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Working Environment
Standard office work environment, with travel to the Kakuma and Hagadera refugee camps
