IRC - Multi-disciplinary Design Consultant Jobs in Uganda

Job Overview:

IRC health team staff from Uganda and South Sudan will be forming a design sprint Core Team to generate a solution to increase the uptake of contraceptives among refugee and vulnerable host community adolescents.

Adolescents face many challenges in taking up contraceptives, including:

● Needing family permission to access services

● Beliefs that contraception is for sex workers

● Health providers who refuse to provide services

● Health services aimed at women and babies that do not meet the interests or needs of young people

The IRC supports mobile and facility-based health services either directly and indirectly through government services.

Major Responsibilities:

● Co-lead the remote design sprint planning & facilitation

● Design research planning and execution

● Prototype planning, creation of prototype assets, and support testing

Deliverables:

● Sprint remote collaboration platform preparation and tools

● Prototyping and design research plan

● Prototyping assets

● Revised design

● Final Report: design insights and frameworks, testing results, recommendations

Job Requirements:

Work Experience:

Design research experience of 3-5 years

Prototyping experience of 3-5 years

Service design experience 3-5 years

Work in reproductive health or in low resource contexts experience

strongly preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

Design Research

Product Design

Graphic Design

Language Skills:

English

Swahili preferred

Preferred Experience & Skills:

● Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills as well as, an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications

● Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time

● Strong problem-solving skills

● Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure

● Highly proficient in Adobe Suite

● Highly proficient in Google Suite
