IRC Country Director Jobs in UgandaResponsibilitiesLead the country program by maintaining open and professional relations with colleagues, promoting a strong team spirit and providing guidance, oversight and resources to enable staff to perform successfully.
Develop and carry out strategies that result in strong representation with: Government authorities at various levels; donors; UN and other international organizations; international and local NGOs.
Ensure that the IRC remains a partner of choice for major international donors
Develop and maintain a high level of understanding of donor priorities and planned funding.
Initiate and sustain strong, mutually beneficial and authentic partnerships with Ugandan organizations.
Seek out and pursue opportunities to raise the profile of the work of the IRC in Uganda, as well as the lives and the needs of the people the IRC seeks to serve.
Maintain an excellent contextual and geopolitical understanding, allowing for the early identification of new developments and trends.
Strategic Direction, Program Quality and Growth:
Lead the implementation of the country program’s strategy action plan to achieve IRC’s ambitions in Uganda and contribute to IRC’s strategic objectives globally.
Ensure high-quality programming through the country program’s consistent use of: rigorous assessment, design, and proposal development and review processes; comprehensive monitoring and evaluation, accountability and learning systems; staff development investments; and partner organization capacity strengthening.
Remain current on national and regional issues impacting the people IRC serves, and develop responsive strategies to ensure the IRC mission can be carried out appropriately.
Identify opportunities for appropriate expansion and growth of programs, supported by the acquisition and investment of human resources.
Ensure timely submission of competitive, responsive and high-quality proposals, and support colleagues in negotiations with donors.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in a relevant field
At least ten years of progressively responsible international work experience, including at least three years in a leadership role at the Country Director level of multi-site, multi-sectoral operations in a humanitarian operating environment
Experience of building personal networks at a senior level, resulting in securing new opportunities for the organization
Demonstrated successful leadership and management experience with a multi-disciplinary team in a cross-cultural setting, including active mentoring and coaching
Proven experience delivering appropriate levels oversight of a portfolio consisting of a variety of complex, high-value donor-funded projects
Extensive representation and fundraising success, including prior experience with European, US and international donors
Experience of managing security in a complex and rapidly changing security context
Proven ability to foster strong, collaborative, principled partner relationships.
Strong budget and fiscal oversight capacities
Established capacity to deal with ambiguity in stressful situations

IRC Human Resources Coordinator Jobs in Uganda
Reporting to Deputy Director of Operations, the HRC is overall responsible for the HR function, ensures effective and transparent human resources management and quality services to employees quality administrative support function throughout the Uganda program.
Responsibilities
HR strategy and objectives:
Linking HR key objectives and priorities to country strategic objectives; coordinating HR practices and priorities across the country program in order to provide and reinforce the recruitment and ongoing development of a competent and efficient workforce.
HR support to senior management:
Advising senior management regarding legal and staff management issues; participating in discussions about structure and organizational development and change; supporting recruitment of senior positions;
HR planning and monitoring:
Reinforcing HR
reporting and planning; developing HR key performance indicators in order to develop an informed and accountable HR management
Compliance:
Reviewing and ensuring compliance to HR policies and procedures; coordinating the development of policies, handbooks and supporting their implementation and dissemination
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of progressive HR professional experience with a minimum of 3 as the head of the HR function. Master’s degree in related field is desirable.
Demonstrated success as an HR generalist supporting employee groups of 400+ employees in multiple locations within the region or global environment required.
Strong managerial skills and ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve superior standard in all aspects of human resource management.
Previous overseas experience in conflict and/or post conflict environments, with the UN and/or NGOs preferred;
Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and computerized payroll systems;
Resilience, record of performance in high-pressure work environments and ability to problem solve without immediate supervision.
Experience working in a multicultural environment
Must demonstrate flexibility, and ability to readily adapt to changing requirements and environments;
Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, and training and development
Excellent English oral and written skills

IRC Human Program Coordinator Jobs in Uganda
Working under the direction of the Deputy Director of Programs (DDP), the Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the completion of special initiatives including Exemplar, as well as advancing the country program’s commitments towards partnership with local NGOs, usage of program tools, development of a funding strategy, and development of communications tools.
Responsibilities
Exemplar initiative
Manage the Exemplar initiative, which includes the integration of key strategic initiatives IRC aims to rollout globally towards 2020 (specific initiatives to be chosen by the country office in February 2018).
Support sector teams including Protection and Rule of Law (ProL), Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE), Economic Recovery and Development (ERD), and Health, as well as operations departments such as HR, Supply Chain, IT, and Finance across the country to adopt the Exemplar new tools and practices in the way they design and implement their programs.
Through the Exemplar initiative, work with the DDP and M&E Manager to ensure IRC programs are measurably more outcome-focused, gender sensitive, cost-efficient, responsive to clients’ needs and preferences, and adapted to contexts of intervention.
Complete a partner mapping of local NGOs in Uganda that could be potential sub-grantees to IRC in Uganda.
Assess IRC Uganda’s capacity to partner with local organizations, including program, HR, Finance, and Supply Chain departments. The analysis could include an assessment of IRC’s capacity gaps or strengths in partner management knowledge and training, funding or other resources, or time.
Recommend and organize subsequent trainings or facilitate support through the regional office or headquarters to address capacity gaps found in assessment; as well as come up with strategies to capitalize on existing capacity strengths.
Work with the region to organize a training for staff on IRC’s partner/sub-grant management systems and processes.
Map out potential synergies between IRC Uganda programs and local partners found in the mapping, and act as a starting focal point to contact local partners for future collaboration.
