IRC INEE Coordinator, Early Childhood Development and Education in Emergencies Jobs in Kenya
This is a full-time, Coordinator for Early Childhood Development and Education in Emergencies position sitting within the INEE Secretariat which is hosted by the IRC. It is a new role, designed to support and strengthen INEE’s early childhood development and education initiatives for the network as well as support the activities of the INEE Early Childhood Development Task Team. This position reports to the INEE Senior Advisor, Strategic Engagement and Dialogue, and will work closely with all members of the INEE Secretariat, This position will preferably be based in Africa, Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East in a country where IRC has an office .
The Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is an open, global network that works to ensure all persons the right to quality education and a safe learning environment in emergencies and post-crisis recovery. INEE is composed of more than 16,500 individual members, who are practitioners, students, teachers, staff from UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, donors, governments (including Ministries of Education), and universities who work together within a humanitarian and development framework.
The Coordinator will work to support INEE members and the INEE Secretariat through INEE’s core functions: community building, convening diverse partners, knowledge management, advocating and amplifying ideas and knowledge, facilitating collective action, and providing members with the resources and support they need to carry out their work on education in emergencies.
Major Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the convening of the INEE Early Childhood Task Team (TT), including facilitating work plans and supporting members to successfully execute activities and events prioritized by the Task Team
• Ensure quality communications and consistent follow-up with and among Task Team members, the INEE Secretariat, and other INEE network spaces and initiatives
• Lead and track the copyediting, translation, design, and printing of resources, tools, and other materials generated by the TT.
• Provide regular updates on activities and achievements in this area of work.
• Recruit and supervise consultants and interns as needed to assist the Task Team and INEE Secretariat in relevant projects and initiatives related to early childhood development and education work.
• Coordinate and lead on narrative donor reporting on relevant grants relating to ECD and EiE, as necessary and in conjunction with the INEE Grants Manager
Other duties
Technical
• Manage INEE’s online presence in relation to early childhood development and education in emergencies (ECDEiE), maintaining up to date to the ECDEiE resource collections on the INEE website
• Engage as a technical expert and global advocate on ECDEiE
• Provide technical input to and review network products and deliverables, including tools, learning materials, and published articles
Secretariat Support
• Provide technical and substantive support for INEE and partner events and forums, such as policy roundtables, discussion forums, global consultations, and strategic planning processes
• In collaboration with the INEE Director, Senior Advisor for Strategic Engagement and Dialogue, and other Secretariat staff, provide technical support in the drafting of INEE strategies,
project plans, concept notes and proposals, program documents, internal and external reports, and other documents as requested.
• Provide regular reports on activities and achievements to the Senior Advisor for Strategic Engagement and Dialogue, the INEE Director, INEE Steering Group, and relevant donors
• Provide general support to grant processes, including drafting and reviewing grant proposals and reports as necessary
• Provide general support to the INEE Director and other Secretariat members as requested

• Minimum 3-6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge and experience in the fields of Early Childhood Development and Education, preferably in EiE and the humanitarian field
• Experience working with multiple partners, including UN agencies, donors, civil society, and governments
• Experience working in networks, member-based organizations, or other partnership-driven initiative
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to lead tool development processes, collating feedback from review groups, and coordinating publication processes (including copyediting and design)
• Excellent analytical and writing skills and demonstrated ability to draft briefs, reports, syntheses, etc.
• Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to run complex projects and deadlines
• Ability to be flexible and work well in a fast-paced environment, often remotely with limited daily supervision
• Advanced technology skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an inter-agency framework and approach, knowledge of INEE and its ways of working, or similar, is desirable
• Willingness to travel up to 15% (travel currently restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
Education:
Essential
• University degree in a relevant field: education, international development, nonprofit management, etc. or equivalent experience.
Preferred
• An advanced university degree (master’s or above) in a relevant field: education, international development, nonprofit management, etc. Or equivalent related work experience.
Language Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English, with a strong preference for candidates with additional fluency in French, Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Arabic
