Context

  • Present in Southern Sudan since 2004, IOM has 8 offices across 6 states and employs over 340 staff. IOM currently implements a range of humanitarian assistance, transition and recovery, border management and migration health initiatives in South Sudan, in co-operation with government and humanitarian partners as well as local communities. IOM has capacities in conflict analysis as well as monitoring of forced displacement/population movement, expertise in community engagement, and service delivery across the humanitarian-development continuum.

    Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Review and propose edits of ECRP donor reports in compliance with donor regulations and obligations.

  • Assist in drafting specific elements of ECRP project narratives, work plans, logical frameworks, results matrices, and other project-related documents in close coordination with relevant units, as required.

  • Monitor and update various processes in IOM’s Project Information and Management Application (PRIMA), including results monitoring, reporting, project revision, etc.

  • Consolidate and analyze data on ECRP programme implementation and indicators in order to provide inputs for the preparation of interim and final donor reports as well as mission, regional and Headquarters periodic and activity-specific reports, as may be required.

  • Compile background information, draft supporting schedules, and coordinate the collection and verification of project documents and data to support the implementation of specific project components or phases.

  • In close coordination with the PSU Coordinator, assist in liaising with relevant authorities, United Nations agencies, nongovernmental organization and other stakeholders as required.

  • Assist in the implementation of visibility actions related to the ECRP project in close coordination with the Media & Communications Officer.

  • Under close supervision, provide inputs to support the development and implementation of the ECRP Communication Plan, which includes the use and management of social media tools, periodic newsletters, stories and other relevant communications.

  • Support the enhancement of social media platforms for ECRP activities by drafting news updates and updating existing text.

  • Maintain accurate and pertinent records of all correspondence, project development and reporting files and administration information.

  • Provide general administrative and logistical support for the preparation and organization of conferences, meetings, trainings and other events, communication and liaison with donors, counterparts, and the Government.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    Education

    • Master’s degree in Communications, Political or Social Science, Business Administration,

  • International Relations, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or

    • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.

    Experience

    • Experience in project development, implementation or management;

    • Experience in liaising with government actors on national and international level;

    • Experience in liaising with international organizations, preferably in the UN context;

    • Experience in research, drafting/writing, and monitoring project or donor reports;

    • Experience in managing data, online communications and social media channels;

    • Direct experience in the region is a
    distinctive advantage.

    Skills

    • Ability to draft correspondence and communicate effectively in English;

    • Knowledge of donor funding mechanisms, reporting requirements and procedures, and project implementation;

    • Knowledge of traditional and social media;

    • Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher;

    • High level of professionalism and ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines in a complex and fast changing environment;

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds;

    • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity; and

    • Knowledge of international agencies like the UN an advantage.

    Languages

  • IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Arabic, French, Spanish and/or a local language is an advantage.

  • Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
