General Context of the Project

  • With over a decade of conflict, there have been devastating humanitarian consequences across North-East (Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states) and the North-West Nigeria. According to the Humanitarian Needs Overview 2024, an estimated 7.9 million women, men, and children need some form of humanitarian and protection assistance. Over 2 million people have been forced to flee their homes due to persistent violence and remain internally displaced. Food insecurity and malnutrition are exacerbated by inflation, poverty, and restricted access due to insecurity, which impedes livelihood opportunities. Gender-based violence (GBV) has been a significant protection concern faced by IDP women and girls in the area. Numerous basic infrastructure like hospitals, clinics, water supplies are damaged, posing constraints on essential service provision. Epidemics like cholera arising from flooding and overcrowded setting put extra stress to the already vulnerable communities.

  • In support to the coordinated humanitarian response in the region, INTERSOS has been implementing integrated projects addressing critical gaps in protection, health and nutrition, WASH, food security & livelihoods, and Camp Coordination and Camp Management for the vulnerable population in 4 States in Nigeria (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and Zamfara), with funding support from BHA, ECHO, WFP, UNHCR, UNDP, etc.

    Main Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Manage procedures and systems to support the grants management with attention to the optimizations to increase effectiveness and accountability of programs
  • Support in each institutional donors projects proposal writing focusing on the programs, financial and logistics requirements, proposal consistency among all components and compliance with the donors guidelines
  • Monitor expenditures and financial procedures on institutional grants to guarantee the respect of donors’ requirements and compliance
  • Support the preparation of budget amendments and variations to be submitted to donors’
  • Upload and archive projects documentation on drive and on INTERSOS Management Platform (IMP)
  • Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive Database of donors guidelines relevant to the mission. Maintain and update comprehensive online information management and filing systems, ensuring all relevant documentation and key communications are appropriately filed both for INTERSOS and partner grants
  • Ensure colleagues have access to relevant records and information
  • Support the use of grants/projects management tools to ensure accurate tracking of opportunities, reporting and programmatic adjustments through the project life cycle
  • Support the Mission in close monitoring and reporting on institutional and private grants spending and share concerns timely
  • Assist with research and information
    gathering relative to proposal designs and development
  • Perform monitoring visits and trainings related to the donors rules where required
  • Ensure that information on donors communications, changes in regulations and meetings or events are disseminated
  • As needed assist with daily administrative tasks including organizing online files, recording, and distributing meeting notes, setting up partnership meetings etc.

  • heck reports and project documentation accuracy and prepare all the documentation to be provided to donors and related to reporting, and ensuring consistency among all components of the report, including financial and logistics.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Programme/ relevant Program Managers

    Education
  • University Degree in International Affairs, Development, International Political Economy or other relevant field.

    Professional Experience
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in grants management, preferably in the humanitarian sector

    Professional Requirements
  • Proposal writing knowledge
  • Familiarity with international donors is preferred
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and internet)

    Languages
  • Mission language (English) essential.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English with close attention to detail.

    Personal Requirements

  • Excellent team-working skills, as well as the ability to work under high pressure and with flexibility

  • Available to share accommodation blocks when required
