Job Details

Inter-peace is an international organization for peace-building.

Its aim is to strengthen the capacities of societies to manage conflict in non-violent, non-coercive ways by assisting national actors in their efforts to develop social and political cohesion.

Inter-peace also works to assist the international community, particularly the United Nations, to play a more effective role in supporting peace building efforts around the world.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Carry out research on expert consultants to support PDU work and on potential people to meet in new countries of interest
  • Contribute to the PDU’s written output (including proposals), where required, and carry out research accordingly
  • In coordination with the Senior Officer, draft formal letters to request meetings with national authorities and international community
  • When necessary, support the organisation of round-table events
  • Identify platforms for available funding opportunities
  • Research and identify fora at which Interpeace staff can participate as speakers
  • Support the organisation of meetings and travel for members of the PDU
  • Other tasks as required

    Job Skills:
  • An understanding of different stages of programme development (scoping, country analysis, stakeholder engagement, proposal development etc.)
  • An understanding of peace building dynamics in several conflict and post-conflict contexts
  • Open source research skills to provide sound analysis of conflict dynamics
  • Drafting written communication (briefs, letters, e-mails, etc.)
  • Drafting documents for internal and external audiences
  • Planning and coordination of events

    Job Qualifications
  • Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree (Bachelor) in Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or related field and able to dedicate six months to a full-time internship with
    the university’s/education institution’s agreement or
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree (Bachelor) in Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or related field and pursuing a Master’s degree in the near future.
  • Applicants will need to provide an attestation from the education institution where the candidate seeks to pursue the graduate degree attesting that this internship is aligned and will contribute to the educational purpose of the graduate degree or
  • Recent completion of a Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, or related field
  • A strong desire to learn about peace building while making a worthwhile contribution of time and effort to Inter-peace
  • Fluent written and spoken English; good written and spoken French skills
  • Good knowledge of common MS computer applications
  • Ability to multi-task
