International Rescue Committee Emergency Response Community Mobilizer Jobs
Working under the guidance and supervision of the Nutrition Supervisor, the Emergency Community Mobilizer will be responsible for:
Key ResponsibilitiesHold sessions and meetings to mobilize and create awareness in the community on integrated management of acute malnutrition both at the facility and community level through the mobile outreaches in the sub-counties.
Support capacity building activities and give health education through sensitization for community and their leaders.
Under the leadership of the Nutritionist and other team members, to facilitate the identification and set up of the outreach venues, including the logistical aspects for the same.
Support documentation and writing of concise reports for all the community outreach activities
Support the monitoring and analyzing the trends in the patient’s attendance and referral systems to provide information and reports regarding linkages
Facilitate communities to identify barriers to effective nutrition outcomes adoption and propose community solution for them.
Support IRC in mobilizing and organizing reflection meetings at the local level to assess progress in the nutrition emergency response implementation
Facilitate partnership and networking relationships and participation with other stakeholders
Work closely with other outreach team members in the targeted areas of response.
Carry out any other additional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Key Result Areas:
Ability to effectively mobilize and work with the entire outreach team to influence uptake of health and nutrition services in the community
Ensure timely and quality health care services to target population during the mobile outreaches through sensitizations.
Support other outreach team members to give timely referrals for very sick patients and children with malnutrition and medical complications.
Qualifications
Diploma/ Certificate in community development or its equivalent from a recognized training institution.
At least 2 years’ experience in community mobilization activities with a
reputable organization.
Experience of working in rural Garissa with the knowledge of the respective language of the communities
Community facilitation skills with an experience in capacity building approaches at the community level through different forums
Partnering and engaging with community with good networking and influencing skills
High integrity, Highly reliable and dependable with cultural sensitivity
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Report generation and writing skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff
Ability to work in hardship areas (Previous emergency experience in a remote setting will be an added advantage).
