Task and Responsibilities Contribute to IPPF’s global technical leadership in quality comprehensive and integrated service delivery (including abortion and contraception) by showcasing innovative and successful approaches from Member Associations (MAs).
Lead the management, design and implementation of the GCACI project in ARO, including the coordination of the GCACI team, through a harmonized management approach of ARO Restricted Funded Projects and in line with existing best practices and IPPFAR policies/procedures
Ensure the provision of quality technical information on sexual and reproductive health in general and in particular on abortion and contraceptive services to the Regional Office and Member Associations (including communications team on abortion-related messaging)
Review, research and prepare briefing sheets, background papers and publications, technical tools and guidelines relating to comprehensive service delivery and ensure MAs are kept up to date with latest knowledge and thinking on relevant SRHR issues including taking lessons from other organizations and emerging best practice
To identify priorities, and design and implement strategies for improved GCACI programme performance at the regional and country level.
Develop in consultation with relevant departments and teams effective programme development and capacity building in order to address comprehensive service delivery issues to fulfil the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people particularly those from poor and vulnerable populations and to prioritise gender equality
Support the development and updating of a medical abortion database in collaboration with the GCACI team and consultants
Lead in the provision of technical support and clinical guidance to the Member Associations in the delivery of quality comprehensive abortion care, including through on-site quality of care supervision and assistance
Support AROs and the Member Associations in strengthening clinic data collection and analysis
To lead the development of GCACI grant proposals to the donor, coordinating country and regional level proposal documents in conjunction with other GCACI team members
Routinely monitor the programme implementation, performance and compliance of GCACI grants both at Africa Regional Office and Member Association levels
Monitor and verify the ongoing GCACI reporting by Africa Regional Office and Member Associations, maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the programme through reports analysis, visits, regular communication and the use of knowledge management systems
To coordinate, edit, finalise and approve a range of GCACI documents including regular donor reports, ensuring that documentation meets GCACI donor requirements.
Participate in mid-term and end of
programme evaluations.
Collaborate and liaise with partner non-governmental organizations, agencies, and other partners to promote IPPF’s reputation as a leading SRHR, pro-choice and youth centred organisation
Raise the profile of IPPF as an innovative and expert SRHR organization through sharing of GCACI results in publications, conferences and other networking opportunities, showcasing innovative and successful approaches from MAs that contribute to learning within the sector
To provide technical advice and support in the formulation and monitoring of policies and innovative programme approaches that support comprehensive service delivery and demonstrate impact
To assist GCACI team members to set and to assess annual goals and performance objectives against achievements of the departmental team
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Medical Doctor or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, Reproductive Health, Social Sciences, Project Management or other related areas.
Experience
At least seven years’ experience in a similar position
Significant experience in managing complex multi-country comprehensive SRH service delivery programmes/projects in Africa
Specific experience in managing projects that address the provision of abortion care and contraception
Experience of leading programmes of change
Experience in working with several donors

Fluency in English and French is a must
