    Context:

    Working under the overall supervision of the Regional Director for Southern Africa and under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator (PRM Africa) and the technical guidance of the Regional Project Development Officer (RPDO) and IOM Washington (counter-trafficking unit), the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on the various regional projects implemented in the region with particular focus on the PRM Africa Project, support the development of and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks, and provide technical assistance and support to other ongoing projects.

    Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • In close coordination with Project Coordinator (PRM) and other programme managers, assist in drafting interim and final project reports for donors and the Regional Office based on programme objectives, work plans, and timelines in accordance with the project document and project agreements with the donor.
  • Assist in the development and design of new projects/programs in close coordination with the relevant units, government authorities, international and regional institutions, and partner organizations in public and/or private sectors.
  • Support the reporting processes in countries where IOM does not have a Country Office (CO) or project development /Reporting capacity.
  • Check and conduct quality assurance regarding interim and final reports and that reports submitted are aligned to donor standards and requirements as well as the IOM project handbook and writing style manual.
  • Provide guidance and monitor COs and other African regions under the PRM Africa Programme on donor reporting with special reference to the IOM and PRM guidelines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks.
  • Contribute and support the enhancement of effective IOM knowledge management at the regional level, including project and information tracking in coordination with the regional M&E officer.
  • Support all aspects of new regional and country specific
    projects with a special emphasis on regional synergies and cooperation as well as backstop ongoing activities.
  • Undertake duty travel as required.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in the field of migration issues including operational and field experience, project development, and management;
  • Demonstrated expertise in the thematic area relevant to project development;
  • Knowledge or experience of regional issues an advantage;
  • Experience liaising with governmental authorities, other national/ international institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs);
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation;
  • Good writing and communication skills with good understanding of the English language.
  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage.

  • Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
