International Medical Corps GBV Manager Jobs in Kenya
ResponsibilitiesProgram PlanningSupporting the design and implementation of GBV programing, including the development of technically sound and contextual psycho-social support group curricula.
Work closely with the GBV technical advisor in HQ, country level senior management and IMC Program Managers based in the field to ensure achievement of IMC’s program goals.
Program Implementation
Provide ongoing leadership and technical support for the establishment and implementation of GBV activities (including case management, psychosocial/emotional trauma support, community support groups, information dissemination, risk mitigation activities and community mobilization).
Support staff that are running activities in the women friendly space (WFS). Oversee girls and women's support programming including activities at WFS and work to achieve sustainable and community-owned mechanisms for these.
Contribute to Knowledge Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and Reporting
To contribute towards Program Learning activities in order to measure impact and ensure continuing improvement. Including but not limited to:
Ensure the quality of activities through regular monitoring and technical support, data collection and management.
Generate regular, accurate and timely GBV data and narrative reports for purposes of program monitoring and promoting good understanding about projects best practices and lessons learned, with management, donors, partners, and communities.
Training/capacity building
Provide ongoing oversight, technical support and mentorship to GBV staff during program implementation to ensure programming meets GBV best practice and guiding principles that prioritizes the needs of the beneficiaries.
Identify staff capacity gaps in GBV both in operational locations and develop staff training plans to build capacity on GBV for social workers, women empowerment officers, and GBV outreach officers.
Coordination and Networking
Participate and contribute to Somalia based GBV sub-cluster.
Attend and participate in relevant working groups, advocacy initiatives, task forces, coordination
activities, and committees convened at district, regional or National level, as is possible and relevant.
Qualifications
A Diploma/Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Community Health, Nursing/Clinical Medicine or other relevant field of study
3-5 years’ experience in GBV program management and field implementation of protection/GBV coordination in humanitarian contexts.
Experience in delivering psychosocial support, psychological first aid and/or case management for survivors of GBV.
Practical experience in GBV prevention, including social norms change and male engagement, and outreach preferred.
Demonstrated experience facilitating GBV interventions with key stakeholders: community leadership structures and survivor service providers.
Staff management experience.
Training and capacity building skills, particularly using participatory techniques for training on different components of GBV programming.
Experience working directly with vulnerable populations, including IDP and refugee populations and GBV survivors in emergency response context. Experience working with adolescent and youth populations desirable.
Familiarity with global standards and guidelines for GBV programming a.
Able to develop effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Fluency in English and Somali.
