Job Description

  • Planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response activities, including activities at the women and girls friendly spaces, community mobilization activities.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to GBV assistant officers through development of weekly, monthly and quarterly work plan.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans and reports in a timely manner to GBV senior officer. .
  • Mobilize community members to improve safety and wellbeing of women and girls
    Develop and conduct GBV prevention related trainings and workshops for IMC GBV and other staff, partner organizations and community members on a variety of issues related to violence against women and girls.
  • Facilitate and lead community-based GBV coordination in relevant sector meetings.
  • Work in collaboration with other GBV staff to ensure risk mitigation measures.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationship with government counterparts, implementing partners, community leaders and other IMC staff.
  • Monitor supply and logistics needs of the project and make sure
    materials are in place; should also ensure adherence to all relevant IMC logistics and finance policies.
  • Contribute to a positive team spirit among all IMC staff.
  • Take any other task designated by GBV senior officer to ensure proper functioning of the GBV program.

    Job Requirements:

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • BA/BSc Degree in health, social work, sociology, psychology, gender, legal or other relevant fields from recognized institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the above-mentioned fields is required.
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in providing trainings and presentations for diverse audience.
  • Positive attitude towards gender equality and strong commitment to support multi-sectoral GBV response interventions.
  • Previous experience or willingness/readiness to live in a hardship environment.
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English; Oromifa language is a plus.
