International Medical Corps in Ethiopia has been operational since 2003. Presently, International Medical Corps Ethiopia is implementing WASH & Nutrition, GBV, SRH and Mental Health in different parts of the country.
Essential Job Duties/scope of Work:Under the supervision of the GBV program Manager, the Deputy GBV Program Manager will support the implementation of quality GBV prevention and response projects in the refugee camps and host community woredas and promote International Medical Corps as a leader agency in GBV.
1. Program Planning Work closely with the Gambella based GBV Program Manager to understand program goals and to meet expectations
Support the camp-based team in ongoing assessments and analyses to better understand protection risks, to map points of service for survivors of GBV and vulnerable individuals, and to identify support structures
Serve as a GBVIMS focal person for the field office and provide support to the camp-based team on GBVIMS analyze to inform programming and coordination.
Support the GBV program Manager in the development of concept notes and proposals, providing necessary field information/ data
Contribute to developing and adopting the GBV Strategy
2. Program Implementation and Capacity Development
Supporting organizing and facilitation of trainings for IMC staff and implementing partners based on project work plans.
Lead the GBVIMS utilization: ensure ethical data management and sharing with relevant stakeholders as per the data Sharing
Protocols
Support Program M&E process: ensure project activity and progress reports are compiled in line with internal IMC and Donor reporting requirements.
Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
3. Coordination – with the guidance from the GBV Program Manager
Actively participate in protection/GBV working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives, also promoting International Medical Corps as a leader agency in GBV
Ensure maximum visibility of International Medical Corps amongst relevant donors
Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
4. Human Resources and Financial Management
Assist in the selection, training and support of qualified program staff
Support the development of strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care
Actively participate in the development of work plans, spending and procurement plans in line with International Medical Corps ’s financial pipelines and donor regulations
Work closely with Logistics team to ensure timely procurement of project supplies
Support pipeline reviews to ensure spending is inline within budget and financial regulations
5. Security
Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with national/ field staff and community leaders and incentive workers or volunteer
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, or other relevant field of study
Above Three years’ experience in GBV program design and implementation, including at least one year in a humanitarian/ camp setting
Familiarity with standards GBV guidelines and tools
Experience in representing and promote the agency in relevant coordination forum.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
Ability to work well with a cross-cultural team
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Supervisory experience
