Job DescriptionEssentials Job Duties:Ensure observance and respect the dignity of beneficiaries, careers and members of the community at all times.
Provide psychosocial support services linked to general health care clinics
Develop culturally appropriate psychosocial activities, including social support activities targeting Somali refugees. These include, but are not limited to training in psychological first aid, designing holistic recreational, vocational and social activities; development of material for awareness campaigns;
Develop and adapt IMC IYCF/ECD materials to the local context based on previous materials and current child rearing practices and needs
Serve as the primary point of contact between IMC and local partners involved in psychosocial activities.
Implement and adapt relevant ECD tools to measure ECD/IYCF outcomes integrated to CMAM (e.g. mother child interaction, maternal mood)
Assist nutrition staff and lead mothers on counsel and strengthen the ECD/IYCF project in the reception center.
Educate other staff about key aspects and components of ECD/IYCF (e.g. child development, improvement of mother-child interaction, and group support focused on IYCF)
Send monthly reports and updates on the ECD/IYCF activities to the Health and nutrition officer
Represent IMC at mental health
and psychosocial coordination meetings and at camp level and other meetings as requested by health and nutrition officer.
Job Requirements
Requirements/qualifications:
Diploma in mid wife or clinical nurse
experience of managing a CMAM/IYCF programme or working in a counselling role related to CMAM & IYCF activities
Have more than two years’ experience in working in counseling or related position
Good understanding of SMART methodology for Nutrition survey
Experience with training of staff in CMAM and IYCF
Ability to read and interpret nutrition reports
Flexible with ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
Fluency in the local language and knowledge of local culture are required
Good communication skills; Oral and written with fluency in written and spoken English
