International Fertilizer Development Center Gender and Youth Specialist Jobs in Uganda
IntroductionThe International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is a Public International Organization governed by an international board of directors with representation from developed and developing nations. The non-profit center focuses on increasing and sustaining food and agricultural productivity in developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC is recruiting staff for the 4-year REACH-Uganda Project, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kampala.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with management and field teams to integrate gender and youth throughout the project.
Lead in development and refinement of a project gender and youth strategy and integration plan.
Assess gender and youth dynamics in the selected value chains in coordination with project staff and sector specialists, addressing barriers to improving participation of youth and women.
Assist in the development of operational manuals to ensure gender and youth equity and sensitivity in manual content and presentation.
Manage the implementation of the Gender Action Plan at field level with the various value chain actors including Farmer Groups, Farmer Business Groups,
Collaborate with local women’s groups, gender-focused organizations, youth-focused organizations and other groups implementing similar gender- and youth-related activities in similar areas
Participate in gender-related meetings with the donor, stakeholders, government officials, and implementing partners.
Collaborate with technical staff to design and implement activities that strengthen women’s and youth access to finance, training and other resources, such as land.
Develop strategies, activities, and messages for communicating the business case for investing in women and youth enterprises.
Propose indicators and data collection methods for tracking changes in women’s and youth’s empowerment, gender dynamics, and gender inequality gaps that integrate into the projects MIS.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the planning and implementation of gender and youth mainstreaming programs.
Experience in the development of gender strategies and gender action plans
Significant field level experience in the both implementation and monitoring of gender mainstreaming techniques focusing on behavior change such as community dialogues, household approach etc.
Prior experience successfully working in societies with low gender and development indicators.
Strong writing and oral presentation skills.
Fluency in spoken and good written English is mandatory.

International Fertilizer Development Center Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities
To supervise regular data collection through implementing partners and ensure quality of the data by random verifications and validations
Contribute to planning and execution of baseline, annual surveys, semiannual reviews, and impact evaluation studies at household level
Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data entry into the project database
Assist in maintenance of data storage and data quality
Assist the M&E Coordinator in Building capacity of IPs in data collection, analysis and reporting
Conduct data analysis, including creation of GPS maps
Ensure that learning activities and products are incorporated into the project cycle
Support the development of work plans at field level
Ensure that implementation of field activities adheres to the M&E framework of the REACH project; Assure quality of trainings and other activities delivered by local partners and compose reports of observations and recommended actions
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Environmental Science, Development Studies ,
Population Studies or similar fields
Minimum 4 years relevant field experience in M&E in agriculture/agribusiness projects
Proven experience in use of gender- and youth-related monitoring tools
Experience with the implementation of real time data collection methodologies employing mobile phone apps and PDA’s and advantage.
Extensive experience in survey design and data collection (key stakeholder interviews, focus groups, surveys, and secondary data analysis techniques), data management, and data analysis skills, particularly experience with MS Access, SPSS or STATA
Experience in building capacity of partners on how to utilize Management Information Systems
Experience in the development of learning products and their incorporation into project implementation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to present materials in meetings, at conferences and to write project documents (including evaluation design plans, results frameworks, data collection and data analysis plans, and progress reports)
Ability to work well a multi-disciplinary team, good interpersonal skills, is attentive to detail

International Fertilizer Development Center Regional Agribusiness Specialists Jobs in Uganda
Responsibilities
Facilitate project implementation
Assist in conducting market assessments to determine the market viability of specific new crops for the project
Assist in conducting market scans, and screening agribusiness/MSMEs for the projects priority crops.
Carry out profiling and formulate/strengthen aggregation structure/farmer business group business plans.
Ensure farmer
Contribute in the design of strategies to strengthen the linkages between farmers’ business groups and higher-up value chain actors and service providers in areas such as bulk purchasing, quality control and primary processing.
Facilitate market driven linkages between aggregation structures/farmer business groups, wholesalers, processors, service providers/support services and markets within Uganda.
Conduct regular field visits to project sites provide hands-on technical assistance and monitoring of business and financial support service providers.
Coordinate with Gender Specialist to ensure is mainstreamed in value chain development activities
Planning, monitoring and quality assurance
Be responsible for results measurement and the facilitation of data collection related to the interventions under management.
Conduct high quality analysis and produce reports and other written outputs which are of an appropriate standard.
In addition the Regional Agribusiness Specialist will perform the following tasks:
Liaison with project stakeholders to maintain good and harmonious working relations and achieve project objectives and contracted outputs in accordance with the project schedule and work plan.
