International Development Law Organization Finance Intern Jobs in Kenya

Internship Program

The position is for a period of 3 months, with the possibility of extension to a maximum period of 6 months, depending on performance (extension to be assessed at the 3-month period).

The first month to serve as probation period. The monthly stipend provided is KES 30,000 subject to relevant statutory deductions.

The Internship

An Intern is sought for an interesting professional learning opportunity to contribute to the work of the Team. An immediate start is anticipated for this position.

Under the supervision of the Finance and Administration Officer, and in collaboration with relevant colleagues, the Intern will be asked to support the team with the following duties:

  • Maintain a comprehensive filing Finance and Administration documents thoroughly supported in a sequential manner and ensuring back up of such documents by scanning to drop box
  • Prepare payment Vouchers with proper support documentation
  • Write cheques where applicable
  • Prepare documents for banking
  • Data entry of payments into Navision
  • File Statutory deductions – PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, WHT and NITA
  • File of financial documents
  • Retrieve financial documents when required
  • Archive financial documents on shared drive
  • Keep consultant’s payments record book up to date
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned by the Finance and Administration Officer

    Ideal Candidate Profile
  • An undergraduate (Bachelors) Degree in Commerce from a recognized University
  • Previous experience in a Finance department of at least 2 years
  • Excellent Interpersonal, organizational, diplomacy and communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Possess strong work ethic characterised by the desire to achieve results. Ability to multi-task in a high pressure environment, respond rapidly to ad hoc requests and meet tight deadlines
  • Computer savvy, able to navigate necessary programs with proficiency and quick learner of new IT programs
  • Ability to maintain high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly to deliver agreed
    outputs and respond to feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Drive to learn and deliver under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment, to respond to ad hoc requests at a short notice and to deliver on assignments on time without supervision.
  • Well-developed team membership skills
