International Community of Women Living with HIV Eastern Africa Community Monitors Jobs in Uganda


Goal

  • The goal is to develop a framework and an inclusive system to ensure that CLM is carried out by a diverse group of CSO nationwide, down to the community level; and that the CLM identifies enablers and barriers to improved access and quality of HIV and TB prevention, care, treatment and support services.

    Key responsibilities

  • Carry out clinic monitoring using agreed upon facility-based tools

  • Use data collected for facility level engagement & advocacy

  • Facilitate engagement or meetings with target populations including PLHIV, people with TB, KPs, youth, AGYW, and men, in order to uncover issues affecting HIV and TB service delivery;

  • Work with structures of people affected by or living with HIV/TB to mobilise and create demand for HIV/TB services.

  • Hold regular meetings with facility staff, IPs, and clinic committees to discuss the quality of service provision at facility level as determined by the data collection exercise;

  • Provide feedback to community members on engagement efforts with district and health facilities’ leadership

  • Monitor implementation of key action points in order to ascertain improvements in service quality

  • Engage partners and stakeholders to strengthen local advocacy and influence changes at health facility level

  • Collect individual stories where specific issues arise

  • Submit monthly reports to the secretariat

    Core Competencies and Experience

    Education

  • Minimum Advanced Certificate of Education. Other certificates, diplomas and degrees will be an added advantage.

    Experience, Skills and competencies

    • At least 2 years’ experience and involvement in HIV/TB and
    Key populations programs

    • Experience in community data collection (is of added advantage)

    • Demonstrable experience in organising, advocacy and/or mobilisation at a community level

    • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all, and/or particularly for people living with HIV and key populations

    • Comfortable working with or willingness to learn to use new technologies and software

    • Self-motivated and able to work in a remotely without direct supervision

    • Good written and verbal communication skills in at least one local language and English (is desirable);

    • Able & willing to travel frequently within the region and at times across the country

    • Fluency in the local language in a region will be an added advantage
