Job Summary / ResponsibilitiesThe Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) officer will be a member of the IRCE project team and work with regional IRCE structures, various religious leaders and local NGO partners, Ministry of Health, non-governmental organizations, community organizations, USAID and other stakeholders to achieve the implementation of an integrated health communication program on HIV.
The SBCC officer under the leadership and guidance of the SBCC specialist works to ensure that program implementation adheres to appropriate technical standards and guidelines and that programs are technically sound.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Provides technical assistance inputs to develop and implement health communication strategies including rapid formative assessments and materials production. Completes detailed strategy write-ups, work plans, and delivers quarterly reports and all other reporting requirements.
Develop or review technical resource materials (e.g., training materials, SBCC plans, strategy documents, job aids) and programming tools to support meeting Project objectives.
Organize and facilitate various advocacy events with FBOs and religious leaders
Undertake community engagement activities including community dialogue sessions around ART retention and adherence, HIV testing and linkages
Conduct interactive and participatory trainings to stakeholders
Work with partners to design communication and messaging content.
Conduct pre-testing of SBCC materials and messages Provide technical assistance to Ministries of Health and local government at all
levels and implementing partners, and support documentation of such activities.
Strengthen capacities of government and other partners to develop and manage health communication activities.
Guiding and providing technical assistance to regional project staffs and focal persons working on Social Behavioral Change Communications projects.
Responsible for sharing best practices in their field of expertise and contribute to the knowledge base through participation in scientific forums and technical networks.
Shares new knowledge/evidence and best practices through collaboration with relevant departments and personnel.
Job Requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences and 5 – 7 years of experience in implementing social and behavior change communication programs.
Experience in developing and implementing a behavioral change communication strategy, focusing on creating demand for community and facility-based health services.
Skilled in training design and delivery, facilitation of high level forum, documentation of practices Experience with USAID projects strongly preferred.
