Job Description

The ISS is seeking an intern based in Addis Ababa to support the implementation of the ISS/TfP work plan. The intern will help with research, writing, planning, and communication tasks, and report to the TfP Project Manager.

Training for Peace (TfP) is a capacity support program for the African Union Commission (AUC) funded by the Government of Norway.


Overview of duties

Assist with research, analysis, and writing, developing a research database, preparation of background papers and concept notes

Provide support to ISS/TfP’s training courses, including compiling data for quality control, monitoring, evaluation, and feedback on courses and training workshops

Assist with planning, communication, and coordination

Social media support

Provide ad-hoc administrative support to ISS staff

The contract will be for five months, and a monthly stipend is offered.

Job Requirements
Qualification

A post-graduate degree in social sciences, political

science, international relations, or a related field

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French will be an advantage

Prior work and/or research experience on the African Peace and Security Architecture, preferably with a focus on peace operations and peacebuilding

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Independent, creative, and proactive
